Based at one of Cavendish Nuclear's key locations – Moor Row (Cumbria), Warrington (Cheshire), Leicester (Leicestershire) or Bristol. Shape the Future of Nuclear Engineering and help create a safe and secure world.

The role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll lead the design, integration and maintenance of high-integrity EC&I systems across nuclear facilities. You’ll ensure regulatory compliance, enhance operational safety and support the UK's clean energy and defence infrastructure. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Leading the delivery of robust EC&I engineering solutions that meet nuclear safety, reliability and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborating with a specialist team focused on safety-critical systems across nuclear operations and decommissioning
  • Supporting multidisciplinary projects within the Engineering Business Unit and aligning with strategic programmes
  • Interfacing with internal stakeholders (project managers, safety case authors, commissioning engineers) and external partners (regulators, clients, suppliers)
  • Ensuring all work meets industry standards, site licence conditions and quality assurance frameworks

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity (37 hours per week) with hybrid working arrangements: three days on site at Moor Row, Warrington, Leicester or Bristol.

Essential experience
  • Designing and delivering EC&I systems for regulated environments
  • Applying nuclear safety standards (e.g. IEC 61508, BS EN 61511) and ensuring compliance with ONR regulations
  • Working within cross-functional teams to deliver complex engineering projects across the nuclear lifecycle
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to resolve design issues and support project delivery
  • Producing and reviewing technical outputs such as specifications, calculations and safety case contributions
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Instrumentation or a related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it is desirable
Security clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance. More details at GOV.UK: clearance levels.
