Senior Development Project Manager – EQUANS, Cambridge, England, United Kingdom

Our Carbon Shift consulting business focuses on realisable climate action and net‑zero plans, specializing in heat decarbonisation, regeneration, facilities management, project delivery, EVs, smart buildings, renewables, and broader climate adaptation and resilience solutions.

Role overview

This role will involve leading and supporting the delivery of engineering design projects throughout all RIBA stages. Most projects are large or mid‑scale renewable‑energy infrastructure, including Solar PV, Solar Canopies, Battery Storage, EV Charging Points and Heat Networks. You will manage all aspects of project execution: from planning and mobilisation to client engagement and financial performance.

Key activities
  • Deliver projects in line with contract specifications, timeframes, budgets and quality standards.
  • Overall P&L management and control, update and review as required.
  • Overall project budget management, including issuing payment applications, supporting Purchase Orders and invoicing to Commercial teams.
  • Overall Programme and Risk register creation, management and review as required, together with any other specific project documentation.
  • Lead operational teams and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient and compliant delivery when required.
  • Manage client relationships, resolve queries and promote high standards of customer care; maintain good communication with clients and contractors.
  • Administer Contracts to ensure timeline, budget and specifications are met; prepare and issue relevant Event Notices for each contract type.
  • Oversee supply chain performance, contractual compliance and financial entitlements.
  • Ensure adherence to EQUANS Health & Safety policies, CDM regulations and environmental standards.
  • Act as an advisor for CDM regulation queries, mentor colleagues, support the client on this process, and act as PC and PD and main point of contact.
  • Represent the project at senior management and client meetings, deputising for the Head of Operations when required.
  • Support document control management, keeping records and design tidy.
  • Facilitate meetings with planning, designers, engineers and others as required for each project.
  • Record meeting minutes, ensuring actions are clear and concise.
  • Support the project throughout planning processes, guiding the client and designers through statutory approvals and managing planning consultants when required.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
  • Engineering degree (Bachelors or equivalent).
  • Solid experience in project management.
  • Excellent use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Ms Projects).
  • CDM knowledge.
  • Contract Management knowledge (incl. JCT, NEC4, FIDIC).
  • Digital tools proficiency for SharePoint, Autodesk Construction Cloud or other platforms.
  • Proven track record delivering complex energy or renewables projects.
