This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by joining the Council’s Communications team at a time of unprecedented challenge and change when effective and engaging communications are essential.The Council believes that in order to meet the challenges of the future it will need to work even more closely with partners to develop and maintain a vibrant local economy, provide a sustainable business and cultural infrastructure, and to improve and protect the environment of Renfrewshire.We want to improve opportunities for all those who live and work in the area and we need especially to support the vulnerable, ensuring equality and fairness for all. The Council will not deliver these outcomes on its own – but can if it works closely and effectively with the wider community.Our communications agenda needs to support these aims. As a senior member of the Corporate Communications team, you will be working proactively with council services and community partners to develop innovative and exciting campaigns and initiatives that ensure Renfrewshire as a whole benefits from an excellent and joined-up communications approach.You will have a relevant degree or qualification, and previous experience of working in a communications and PR environment, with relevant experience in at least one of the following areas:• Developing communications strategies and plans. • Managing the efficient and effective delivery of an organisation’s communications, web and social media presence. • Developing well-designed and targeted campaigns and maintaining brand consistency. • Developing proactive news and features for the media. • Providing an effective media enquiries response service.Other essential criteria include: • Demonstrable proven track record of achievement on delivering integrated and strategic communications programmes, • Extensive knowledge and understanding of various media and digital platforms • Ability to create engaging content across various media and digital platforms. • Effective communications, IT, presentation and analytical skills with highly developed report-writing skills • Effective leadership and team-building skills • Ability to build relationships with, and offer communications advice to, colleagues and partners • Ability to initiate, innovate, and project manage workload effectively • Clear and focused judgement and the ability to work on your own initiative • A full driving licence.A sound knowledge and understanding of current policy issues and developments affecting local government and the wider public-sector environment is desirable.Please note that this post is temporary, subject to business needs and funding for one year or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever date is the earlier.For an informal discussion about any aspect of this post please contact Colin Orr, Strategic Communications Business Partner, at colin.orr@renfrewshire.gov.uk## Job Attachments* Share this job posting via Email### Advertisement
