Job Summary

The Senior Clinical Support Worker will work within the Gynaecology team, supporting nurses and medical staff while maintaining independent clerical duties. The role requires initiative, problem‑solving and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures. Responsibilities include managing waiting lists, booking appointments, clerical tasks, specimen handling, and providing support during patient examinations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist, support and work in collaboration with the Registered Nurse and multidisciplinary team to provide safe, holistic, person‑centred care.
  • Maintain clean, safe, hazard‑free environment and manage the delivery and retrieval of specimens, items & equipment to the outreach clinic.
  • Prepare the environment for gynaecology outpatient examinations and procedures; chaperone and assist during examinations.
  • Communicate relevant information to consultants and nursing staff; demonstrate good customer care skills.
  • Work independently within scope while under RN supervision, undertaking routine and specialised tasks as trained.
  • Adapt to variable shifts over 7 days a week on a week‑by‑week basis, within agreed limits.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • 2 years experience working in the NHS.
  • GCSE Maths and English (or Level 2 Functional Skills). Overseas equivalents accepted with ECCTIS statement.
  • Full Care Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (regulated awarding body).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
Desirable Skills
  • Venepuncture, taking clinical observations and recording vitals.
  • Pregnancy testing, urine analysis (strip).
  • Ability to cover a variety of shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Evidence of professional development activity.
