As a Senior care worker, you will be visiting service users to complete assessments, reviews, draw up care plans, provide personal care, build relationships, and make a big difference to those who need it whilst gaining great job satisfaction.

LOTS OF HOURS AVAILABLE! Areas covered: BR1, BR2, BR4, BR5, BR6, BR7 (Bromley, Southborough, Bickley, West Wickham, St Mary Cray, Farnborough, Orpington, Chislehurst, and all surrounding areas).

Principal duties and responsibilities

  • Act as a Senior Key worker and formulate care plans in accordance with service users’ needs and wishes; update plans as needs change.
  • Supervise junior staff, providing support, assistance, PPE and necessary documents. Carry out spot checks on home carers and complete reviews and assessments as required.
  • Report any issues to the management team, complete and maintain records of daily activities, observations, and direct hours of service.
  • Ensure service is delivered in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Ensure service users understand their care, including the number of hours allocated per week and how these hours are negotiated with the provider, prioritising medication times where required.
  • Support service users to achieve outcomes defined in their Care Delivery Plan, including personal activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living. Help remove obstacles to community participation.
  • Proactively engage and liaise with other professionals or services (e.g., Telecare, GPs, Meals on Wheels, housing departments) to support service users’ needs.
  • Act as a community connector through Connect to Support, signposting and facilitating access to services that help with tasks such as shopping and prescription collection.
  • Facilitate access to organisations that support community integration and participation in activities that enhance overall well‑being. Work in partnership with key stakeholders and professionals.
  • Be fully aware of responsibilities related to safeguarding, protection from abuse, and professional boundaries.

Person Specification

  • Education and qualifications: Good basic education Level 2 in health and social care or equivalent NCFE Level 2 in safe handling of medicines (required); Level 3 in health and social care or equivalent (desirable).
  • General intelligence: Clear reasoning ability, time‑management skills, ability to multitask, problem‑solving skills.
  • Work experience: At least 6 months experience caring for the elderly and working as part of a team (required). Previous senior role and supervisory experience (desirable).
  • Special aptitudes: Good written and oral communication skills, empathy with residents, leadership skills.
  • Disposition: Self‑reliant, motivated, dependable, trustworthy, pleasant, manned, able to take responsibility, team player, professional appearance, optimistic attitude.
