Bailey Partnership is an award winning consultancy practice looking to recruit a Senior Building Surveyor to join our Edinburgh office.

Established in 1971 and operating from 13 offices across the South of England, East Midlands, Manchester, Scotland and Gibraltar, we are a Building Top 150 consultancy offering Architectural, Interior Design, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Fire Engineering, Project Management, Civil & Structural Engineering, Building Services Engineering, and Town Planning services.

The successful candidate will be required to act on behalf of both public and private sector clients across a complete range of projects.

About the Role

As a Senior Building Surveyor, you will play a critical role in our Building Surveying team, managing a diverse workload. This position involves direct client liaison, proactive business development, and seamless collaboration across all disciplines. Regular travel to sites and meetings is essential for this role, which demands both on-site contractor interaction and client consultation, as well as typical office work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on conducting building surveys, condition reports, party wall surveys and dilapidation assessments.
  • Complete complex technical design detailing and drawn construction information including plans, sections, and details.
  • Demonstrate extensive building pathology knowledge, applicable to a wide range of building types, and effectively utilise your experience to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
  • Meet with other professionals, clients, customers and others to obtain and provide information relating to land, property or construction, whilst maintaining professionalism and consistency.
  • Perform critical defect analysis and provide expert recommendations.
  • Translate research data into financial reports, providing informed recommendations for strategic choices.
  • Coach, mentor and develop more junior staff (which could include line management).
