Job description

The Senior Authorised Person (SAP) will oversee the construction and day‑to‑day operation of ESP Utilities Group’s high voltage electricity networks, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient assets across residential and integrated community networks.

Role Purpose

Manage and oversee construction of assets up to 132kV, ensuring safety and operability standards are met to support ESPUG’s licence conditions. Control and authorise electricity distribution networks to comply with ESPUG standards, Distribution Safety Rules, and industry guidance. Provide strategic input into process development and commercial/regulatory outcomes while meeting business targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Accountable for quality and compliance of asset construction and network operations.
• Ensure contractors and ICPs are safe, competent, accredited and regularly audited against ESP policy and industry guidance.
• Brief customers on changing industry requirements, ESP policies and procedures.
• Engage in technical and compliance discussions to support safe, compliant, efficient network delivery.
• Manage inspection of assets under construction and post‑commissioning to ensure compliance.
• Report safety and technical non‑conformances, compile data and manage targeted interventions.
• Assist customers with design of HV and LV networks, ensuring compliance with ESP, industry standards and legislation.
• Act as Safety Controller under ESP Distribution Safety Rules.
• Plan and control HV switching schedules as HV control engineer.
• Provide 24‑hour HV control standby duties on a rota.
• Deliver fault response activities through service providers and maximise recovery of claims from third‑party damage.
