A leading healthcare provider in Plymouth is seeking a Radiotherapy professional to manage patient care and supervise junior staff in the absence of the Team lead. The role emphasizes collaboration with various healthcare professionals to ensure efficient treatment delivery. Strong leadership skills and knowledge in radiotherapy procedures are essential. The Trust values staff contributions towards patient-centered care and offers numerous career development opportunities in a dynamic environment.
The post holder will be required to manage all aspects of the workload in the absence of a Band 7 Team lead and will be directly responsible, under their duty of care, for the planning, treatment and care of patients undergoing Radiotherapy.
Applicants who do not fully meet Band 6 requirements but demonstrate clear potential may be appointed at Band 5 on a developmental basis. Candidates will enter a structured senior training programme, completing all required competencies under support from the departmental training and education lead. Upon completion, the post holder will progress to Band 6; if not achieved within the agreed timeframe, the post holder will remain on the Band 5 pay scale until competency is achieved.
Candidates who have applied in the last 6 months need not apply. Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status NHS staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.
The post holder is part of a specialist team rotating through the pre‑treatment and treatment areas of Radiotherapy, supporting the team leader of the highly complex treatment unit, Brachytherapy unit, CT planning unit or pre‑treatment liaison area.
We are a people business – where every member of staff matters and can make a difference. Patients are at the heart of everything we do. Joining University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust means becoming part of a team of dedicated staff, committed to leading the way through innovation, clinical excellence and great customer care. The Trust offers career development opportunities in a highly progressive working environment in a vibrant, modern city.
