Job Responsibilities
  • Analyze insurance performance historical data to understand the reasons for past performance and make recommendations that will influence the business growth and/or address portfolio / business concerns
  • Conduct regular, ongoing reviews on the sales performance measurements for each distribution channels, as well as portfolio analysis to assess quality of business being written
  • Recommend changes or adherence to prudent underwriting guidelines and practices
  • Respond to business needs by identifying appropriate information to analyze utilizing a variety of sources in data mining
  • Identify, understand, and communicate profitability drivers while collaborating with multi distribution channels, claims and accounting areas
  • Find ways to automate reports based on user requests or by observing frequency of ad-hoc reports being requested
  • Identify opportunities and responding to changes to ensure adherence to the corporate business success strategy
  • Communicate and consult proposed changes in underwriting rules, guidelines, practices and gaps based on findings
  • Provide Insurance field trend analysis, forecasts reports and findings that anticipate outcome
  • Ability to utilize EDW data / GW data, industry information and trend analysis to provide management recommendations
  • Provide detailed analysis of statistics that are outside of anticipated norms
Job Requirements
  • University Degree in Mathematics, Economics or Actuarial Science
  • 3-5 years data reporting experience in the financial services industry. P&C Insurance industry experience is a definite asset.
  • Forecast reporting, data collection, data analysis, report generation and quality assurance experience is required
  • Professional designation preferred but not required: CIP/FCIP, CA. CMA. CPA, CGA or equivalent
  • Database Administration experience is a preferred asset
  • Working experience with MS Office products, SQL or database query tools including VBM and VBA is an asset
  • Power BI and Python experience are required
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solver, detail oriented, ability to work in a team environment as well as work independently
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
