Mencap are seeking Relief Support Workers to join our incredible team in Blaydon, Gateshead. (NE21)

As a Relief Support Worker, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.

From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.

The supported living service is home to three young men. The men are supported to live their best lives, including morning routines, personal support, mealtimes, sensory activities, and regular visits to social opportunities in the local and wider communities such as Beamish Museum, beach days, meals out, going on the trike, discos, etc. The men are always open to exploring new places and experiences.

You will be working as part of a big team with a minimum of 4 people on each shift so you will always have the support of experienced people working with you.

What we're looking for
  • A genuine passion for supporting others.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
Contract options

All our services are 24hr care. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can still plan your personal and social life!

There is also a non contractual sleep-in available where you will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £63.70.
