A community hospital in the UK is seeking a dedicated Recreation/Activity Therapist to join their team. You will conduct therapeutic recreational activities that support the rehabilitation of geriatric patients. This role requires a degree in Recreation Therapy or a related field and current state licensure. Ideal candidates will have at least one year of experience in a behavioral healthcare setting. The position is full-time with shifts primarily during the day.

East Liverpool’s medical staff is comprised of more than 160 physicians with an additional 21 resident physicians completing their training in Family Medicine and Internal Medicine. The hospital provides 24/7 emergency services, general surgery, medical stabilization for substance abuse, behavioral health for adults over the age of 55, and remains the ONLY cardiac rehabilitation program in Columbiana County. Conducts therapeutic recreational activities within the geriatric behavioral health program to facilitate rehabilitation of the physically and mentally disabled. The Recreation/Activity Therapist directs patient participation in selected activities such as games, social activities, sports or music to create an atmosphere of sociability, to provide a means of creative expression and to facilitate the learning skills for recreating during hospitalization and after discharge in the community. Creates an environment that allows the patient to explore his/her own potential, cultivate positive morale and minimize distress of illness.
