What you’ll be doing
  • Support the A9 project to meet customer and stakeholder requirements, including verification activities to show compliance with Balfour Beatty standards, external accreditations, and industry best practice.
  • Coordinate, submit, ensure compliance, and manage all assurance activities, resolving related issues. Implement procedures, including supply chain submissions and test/inspection plans for project delivery.
  • Promote a successful and open quality culture, making improvements as needed. Plan and implement targeted quality and broader business improvement initiatives and projects.
  • Support and coordinate project teams in developing and following quality plans/inspection & test plans, ensuring requirements are met.
  • Advise, coach, and assist delivery teams in achieving deliverables and managing issues; provide quality advice to the supply chain as needed.
  • Support the A9 delivery team in using digital systems to monitor quality planning, deliverables, and issue management.
  • Use quality assurance principles to ensure customer requirements are understood and quality control mechanisms are in place.
  • Develop, maintain, and apply appropriate content for the Business Management System (BMS) to meet business needs and align with company requirements.
  • Drive quality metrics, monitor and report on A9 Project quality performance, and agree/monitor management actions for improvement.
  • Support the annual audit programme, conduct local and supplier audits, and support contracts with Balfour Beatty and external certification audits.
  • Coordinate with others to produce project or business quality deliverables as required.
  • Support the development and implementation of quality strategies, plans, and measurement frameworks across the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in training, coaching, and developing quality skills in business/project streams, including sharing lessons learned.
  • Support the establishment of a culture of continual improvement.
  • Support investigations and reporting on quality-related issues as required.
  • Support the use and training of digital tools for project governance and quality assurance.

  • Understanding and commitment to Quality Management
  • Experience in construction
  • Coaching skills
  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor trained
  • Experience in driving business improvement and leading change
  • Ability to gather, analyse, and evaluate facts
  • Able to work to plans, programmes, and budgets
  • Attention to detail and follow‑through
  • Strong relationship‑building and influencing skills
  • Able to deliver reports orally and in writing objectively
  • Willingness to challenge existing methods and thinking
  • Able to work within a multi‑discipline team
  • Proficient in modern office computer systems and technology (e.g., Office 365, SharePoint, Power BI)
  • CQI Chartered Member (or working towards Chartered status)
Desirable Qualities/Experience
  • Formal qualification in Quality Management
  • Awareness of sector‑specific certifications and requirements
  • Experience with Digital Progressive Assurance systems/Electronic Forms
  • Operational experience in construction or asset management
