Job summary

A leading research organization in Crawley is seeking an experienced individual to join their team for a key role in quality assurance for the Square Kilometre Array project. The ideal candidate will have a relevant engineering qualification and extensive experience with Quality Management Systems, including ISO compliance. Responsibilities include collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range and is fixed-term for 2 years.

  • Strong knowledge of IPC J-STD-001H standards and electronic assembly quality requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage nonconformance processes and conduct internal/external audits.

  • Base salary range: $116,262 – $127,078 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.
About the area

The International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) is a joint venture between Curtin University and The University of Western Australia (UWA), and one of the largest astronomy institutions in Australia. ICRAR is a lead organisation in the global SKA Project, which will transform our understanding of the Universe. The Astrophotonics Group at ICRAR develops cutting-edge photonic systems for radio astronomy, optical astronomy, and space science, combining expertise in physics, engineering, and astronomy.About the opportunity

  • Lead quality assurance for the SKA-Mid Frequency Distribution System, ensuring compliance with international standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and global partners to deliver a robust, scalable solution for the SKA.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and oversee quality processes from design to deployment.
About you
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, quality management, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Extensive experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS), including ISO 9001:2015 compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of IPC J-STD-001H standards and electronic assembly quality requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage nonconformance processes and conduct internal/external audits.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
