Job summary

The role focuses on delivering applications engineering for substation layouts and technical specifications for 400kV to 11kV projects. Ideal candidates will hold an HNC/HND in engineering and have knowledge of transmission practices, along with strong teamwork and analytical skills. The position offers a hybrid work model of 2-3 days per week at the central Birmingham office.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification of HNC/HND in the related engineering field.
• Proven knowledge of Transmission or Distribution practices (400kV to 11kV).
• Good teamwork, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure.
• Electricity supply industry experience.
• Understanding of Distribution Network Operator/National Grid standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide substation layouts and detail diagrams following UK standards.
• Develop technical specifications and material schedules.
• Prepare conductor force calculations.
• Check and approve project documentation.
• Ensure timely delivery of work packages to project scope and budget.
• Provide technical support and develop tender document options.
• Produce engineering time estimates and support monthly forecasts.
• Input into design and hazard review meetings.
• Provide site technical support when required.

Overview

Hitachi Energy are hiring a ProjectEngineer to join the team. This opportunity will be ideal for anyone with a passion and desire to deliver within applications engineering, we are looking for someone with an eye for detail and able to prepare documentation and diagrams. In this role, you will be responsible for the technical expertise in the design and installation of Substation Layouts for 400kV to 11kV substation projects.

Please note this position is of a hybrid nature (2/3 days working out of our central Birmingham office). Please also note we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Responsibilities

• To provide substation layouts and associated detail diagrams in accordance with established UK standards and processes through allocated CAD resource locally and in other business units.
• To develop technical specifications and material schedules for primary equipment.
• To prepare conductor force calculations.
• To check and approve project documentation in accordance with established standards.
• To ensure own work packages and delegated work packages are delivered to project programme, scope and align to allocated budget. Provide comment where required on delegated works.
• Provide technical support and to develop tender scheme options and related project scope documents.
• To produce engineering time estimates and support monthly forecasts to complete.
• To input into design and hazard review meetings.
• To provide technical support at site when required.

Your background
