Overview

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defence industry. We are looking for a Program Manager to join our team in Leighton Buzzard. As a Program Manager you will lead various Modification and Upgrade (MAU) programs across our portfolio of Interiors products. This position will allow a seasoned program management professional the opportunity to take a critical leadership role within a fast‑growing business segment. This candidate will work independently, managing small/medium program teams as well as serving as the primary customer interface. This is an onsite role in Leighton Buzzard, UK.

What You Will Do
  • Works autonomously with limited oversight leading projects and programs by developing program plans, schedules and budgets for programs under his/her responsibility.
  • Analyses data and monitors programs to ensure adherence to contract scope of work, cost, schedule and technical specifications.
  • Leads program management content for business development activity.
  • Develops, maintains and presents plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project/program to internal executive leadership and customers. Demonstrates continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Collaborates and communicates with individuals across multiple levels of the organization. Manages vendors, when necessary, to support the program.
  • Participates in the negotiation of contracts and contractual changes, including coordinating preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements, operational budgets, specifications, and financial conditions of contracts to ensure legal compliance and to protect the organization’s interests.
  • Proactively identifies and addresses risks and develops solutions to problems which require critical thinking, creativity, and innovation.
  • Interfaces with customers on project specifications and requirements to ensure successful project scoping and confirmation of targets.
  • Manages the contract lifecycle, cost, schedule and performance of company programs.
Experience & Qualifications we prefer
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in program & project management is essential.
  • The successful candidate will also have experience in managing programs from the manufacturing industry – this is also essential.
  • A STEM Degree is highly desirable as is PM certification such as Prince 2 / PMP etc.
  • Proven people leadership in a matrix organisation.
  • External & Internal customer exposure experience – minimum of two years.
  • Good knowledge of NPI Product Lifecycle and new product development – Essential.
  • The ability to coordinate and manage cross‑functional teams of people and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, team members and partners.
  • Proven high proficiency on MS Excel and general proficiency in MS office and Project (or similar).
  • Management of metrics, dashboard creation and clear reporting skills.
  • A high aptitude for problem solving, particularly where negotiations in priorities are concerned.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure in a busy environment.
  • Experience in a process driven environment, working to recognised standards or regulations.
