Working Hours: Monday to Friday – 40+

What are we looking for?

Are you a driven, self-starting individual looking for a mobile role with guaranteed full-time hours, a permanent contract, and a fixed annual salary? We can offer you it all, plus a free lunch, 25 days annual leave and weekends and bank holidays off!

We are looking for an experienced, access engineer with proven experience of “onsite” LOLER Examinations and small repairs across our range of hired lifting and access equipment. You will be covering our whole delivery area, predominantly London and central England with some time at our central hub in Bedford. Transport, tools and equipment will be provided.

We have a friendly environment where the rapid growth of our business means we support the development of our talented people.

THX aspire to be the hire company of choice for specialist contractors offering the latest in a large range of hire equipment.

What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for:

  • Meeting the expanding engineering requirements of our increasing locations and fleet numbers, ensuring continued compliance and certification of LOLER & PUWER legislation.
  • Ensuring “on hire” LOLER inspections (6 and 12 Months) are carried out in a timely professional manner at our customer sites.
  • Ensuring accurate records are produced and maintained (with admin support).
  • Working with our customers to provide high standards of engineering support for the organisation’s rental fleet while on hire.
  • Customer contact to attend site.
  • Fully responsive mobile engineering response (on-site and by phone).
  • Maintenance, repair, service and response to breakdowns of THX’s rental fleet of MEWPS (on or off-site and by phone).
  • Ensure re-charge of repairs and other chargeable costs to the customer where applicable, in line with THX’s policies and objectives.
  • Providing support to our warehouse, workshop and driving teams as required
What we would like to see?
  • You must have relevant experience or qualifications within the powered access industry e.g. CAP, IPAF and manufacturer courses (desirable – training provided for the right candidate).
  • Be accredited with up-to-date LOLER qualifications – Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) preferred.
  • Proven track record of ability to inspect and repair any fault across all aspects of Access / MEWP / Lifting equipment.
  • Electrical/hydraulic engineering qualifications or time served – competent with schematics
  • Familiar with a variety of manufacturer’s equipment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, operating autonomously as a key member of THX’s engineering team.
  • Good MS Office and computer literacy skills.
  • Good with paperwork and accurate documentation.
  • Safety conscious.
  • Great communication skills – both verbal and written across all disciplines and at all levels.
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to delivering excellent service.
  • Effective planning and organisation skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good time-management.
  • Self-motivation.
  • Ability to work alone whilst also being a genuine team player.
  • Possess a clean driving license.
  • This role requires security/clearance for some of our customers and any offer may be subject to such clearances being obtained.

You will need to be able to work Monday to Friday, with flexible working hours depending on location/traffic, and sometimes overtime may be required to meet customer requirements.
