We are currently recruiting a Portering & Waste Supervisor, to help us keep our hospitals moving and our patients served. You will be required to cover a 24/7 rota.

You will work autonomously and manage your own workload, acting for your Line Manager during Annual Leave, evenings, nights and weekends. You will lead with the support of management in instilling appropriate Trust Values and working practices into the portering team.

Main duties of the job

Your role will include, but is not limited to:

  • To manage porters role on a day to day basis.
  • Use the Health roster system to ensure all staff are paid correctly and annual leave sickness and other absences are entered on the system.
  • Liaise with portering management regarding the maintenance and repair of equipment used by portering staff, e.g. patient wheelchairs, patient trolleys.
  • Working with your team in tasks to provide a continuity of service.
  • React to emergency requests with speed, answering bleep or mobile phone promptly, undertaking the task yourself if necessary.
  • Liaising with Ward/Departmental Management and Staff, taking particular attention to the Trust Clinical Site Management Team on quality of service delivery.
