Join Our Team as a Residential Porter!

If you’re committed to maintaining high standards and resolving issues efficiently, this role is perfect for you.

• Location: Cambridge, CB2
• Annual Salary: £26,000
• Hours/Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 7am-4pm or 1pm-10pm on a rotating basis between the Porter team. Weekend work is also required in this position with one weekend in threebeing required (Sat & Sun 10am-4pm, with the Thursday & Friday Off).

This role is very much a hands on role with a 50:50 split of cleaning/general caretaking duties and front of house responsibilities.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Cleanliness of Communal areas: Vacuum & mop floors, Dust and polish wooden elements, Clean windows, Cleaning light fittings and replacing bulbs as required, Litter picking, Sweeping pathways, Gardening (Weeding, pruning, hedge trimming).
• Problem-Solving: Address issues promptly, from maintenance to emergencies, and escalation concerns to the building manager as needed.
• Security: Conduct regular site walk-arounds, check IDs, and monitor CCTV to maintain building safety.
• Welcome and Assist: Greet residents and visitors warmly, making them feel at home. Handle queries and assist with maintenance requests.
• Safety Checks: Looking out for H&S hazards on site patrol, Assist with fire alarm, emergency lighting, and smoke vent testing.
• Local Knowledge: Offer advice and recommendations about the local area to enhance residents’ experience
• Swimming: This development contains a swimming pool so we require all of our staff members on site to be qualified first responders. We will pay for the training needed to become qualified but the successful applicant must be competent swimmer.

What You'll Bring:

• Experience with cleaning, caretaking or basic maintenance is highly advantageous.
• Experience in Front of House is a plus, but a strong customer service or security background is equally valued.
• Comfortable swimming ability.
• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
• Health & safety qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
• A positive, can-do attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to handle responsibilities with care.
