A personal support organization is looking for a caring individual to assist a young male with profound disabilities in his family home. The role involves supporting daily living activities and engaging in sensory play. Candidates should have 2 years of care experience, a genuine caring nature, and flexibility in their availability. Part-time positions are available with various benefits like holiday and pension schemes.
Pay: £13.00 per hour
This role is to support a young male living with his parents in their family home, in Shipston-On-Stour. Current care is being provided by his parents; he has home school education three times per week. Personal assistants are required to allow the family respite time. The client is registered blind and has a profound learning disability, is fully immobile, and has diabetes, epilepsy and Poikilothermia. The client requires intermittent oxygen therapy, nebulization, oral suction and enteral feeding, and has a suprapubic catheter in-situ.
The personal assistants will need to be patient and understanding, willing to be highly interactive as the client enjoys sensory activities, including messy play, kinetic sand, music, and cartoons. He dislikes loud noises, raised voices, and busy environments.
Posts include Sunday, Monday and Tuesday 4.30pm – 11.30pm with alternate weekend cover of 3 hours for 2 PAs. Set days are allocated, with some flexibility to cover annual leave, sickness and alternate weekend shifts on a pro rota basis.
The ideal candidate will live locally, be flexible, and enjoy the company of animals (family has cats and dogs). You should have a genuine caring nature, a calming presence, and demonstrate professionalism, integrity and respect for the family and home. A good sense of humor is desirable.
Candidates can be male or female. Previous experience with Poikilothermia, oxygen therapy, oral suctioning, enteral feeding, catheter care, epilepsy or diabetes is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
