We need a dynamic and experienced individual to manage tennis and padel activity at Canterbury Tennis Club (CTC). Working with stakeholders and administrative support, you’ll develop and lead a successful, inclusive tennis and padel programme at our site within Polo Farm Sports Club (PFSC) on the outskirts of Canterbury.

Responsibilities
  • Grow the club through membership, pay & play, coaching, events, sponsorship, catering, merchandise, etc.
  • Develop and implement a marketing plan to achieve growth, engagement, retention and performance targets.
  • Manage business operations, including budgeting, administration, bookings, suppliers and services.
  • Manage the launch and operation of an online booking system that delivers a user‑friendly customer interface with backend financial and usage reporting.
  • Manage HR, including supervision and training of support officers.
  • Manage CTC facilities, liaising with the PFSC facilities manager, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety and other legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with CTC and LTA policies and codes of conduct.
  • Lead on delivering the CTC community outreach programme.
  • Build strong relationships with coaches, the Indoor Tennis Centre, self‑managed junior academy and PFSC.
  • Keep on top of developments in tennis and padel.
  • Engage members to take on voluntary roles.
  • Liaise with and report to the CTC Board and committees.

Canterbury Tennis Club is the 2025 LTA Kent Club of the Year and has a membership of around 275 adult players. We are located at Polo Farm Sports Club, a multi‑sports venue on the outskirts of Canterbury that is home to hockey, cricket, croquet, indoor and outdoor tennis, a self‑managed junior tennis academy and from 2026, padel. We have six artificial clay courts, two grass courts and a licence to operate pay and play tennis on three additional clay courts shared with Canterbury Christchurch University and the PFSC‑managed Indoor Tennis Centre, of which CTC members are automatic members.

The two padel courts will be adjacent to the outdoor tennis courts and clubhouse, creating a racquet sport hub.

  • Versatile and flexible team player with common sense, willing to get hands on when needed.
  • Highly numerate, with experience of budgeting and management accounts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer literacy, including experience of booking systems/software.
  • Self‑starter and problem‑solver who remains calm under pressure.
  • Strong networker who can communicate and influence at all levels.
  • Ideally, experience of a sports and leisure environment and an understanding of the ethos of a members’ club that operates as a CASC.
