We're recruiting a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join Bucks CAMHS team assessing for ADHD and autism. Please note this role is part-time working 22.5 hours per week.

You will join a well-established, and knowledgeable, friendly, kind and neuro affirmative multi-professional team. You will receive quality reflective supervision. You will use your skills to deliver quality assessments and influence service improvements. You will have opportunities to grow in your career, including developing your leadership skills and supervision of others as and continuing professional development and research opportunities. You will be a vital member of the team helping the system to understand the complete identity of the young person including their neurodivergence, mental health and developmental profile.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you'll be contributing to the assessment process for neurodivergent children and young people.

We work closely with families to understand their child's needs both prior to and within the assessment experince. The team consists of multi-agency professionals who bring robust assessment and reflection to MDT and team meetings.

The service has recently moved through a new model and is now embedding this 1 day assessments model which is supporting families and clinicians in management of the assessment process.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non professional groups
  • Good organisational and time management skills, ability to plan and prioritise own workload
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies with children and adolescents with conditions appropriate to the post.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • Doctoral level training in clinical / counselling psychology including specifically models of Pre-qualification training and qualifications or experience in research methodology, staff psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies, and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • Current HCPC registration as a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist
Desirable criteria
  • Pre-qualification training and qualifications or experience in research methodology, training and/or other fields of applied psychology. staff
Experience
Essential criteria
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment including neurodevelopmental assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, day services and in patient settings.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and threat of physical abuse
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of running / co-running groups
  • Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts
  • Experience of working with people with conditions appropriate to the post.
