Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced Orthotist who is looking for an opportunity to develop their career at our service based in Gloucester. The role will involve working with a complex clinical caseload and will be instrumental in developing and implementing service improvements for the betterment of patients in Gloucester and surrounding areas. The role will present exciting opportunities to develop clinical and leadership skillsets, and the successful candidate will be supported with local, regional, and national training to support their professional development within the service. The role includes both independent working and working in clinic alongside the Clinical Lead a few times per month.

Working at Gloucester Royal and Community Hospitals

Opcare’s Gloucester services cover orthotic clinics in Gloucester Royal, Stroud, The Vale, Cirencester, Tewkesbury, North Cotswolds Hospital, and Cheltenham Hospitals. The department provides inpatient, outpatient and community orthotic care for a wide variety of patients. There is a complex mix of adult and paediatric multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) and extended practice clinics which provide a great opportunity to be exposed to interesting and varied caseloads. We aim to deliver a first-class service for users whilst applying the most advanced clinical and technical solutions available to patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality care for all patients and the smooth running of the service.
  • Working closely with MDTs.
  • Inputting and leading on initiatives within the service development plan.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessment of patients to determine their orthotic needs.
  • Develop and implement personalised orthotic treatment plans.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in orthotic technology and practices.
  • Provide excellent patient care, education, and support throughout the treatment process.
  • Assessing, measuring, casting, fitting, supplying, reviewing and adjusting orthoses as required.
  • Maintaining appropriate clinical notes.
Skills & Experience:
  • A minimum of 3 years work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience of complex casework in adult and paediatric care.
  • Self-starter with a flexible and pro-active approach.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships through effective verbal and written communication.
Qualifications:

The successful candidate must possess one of the following qualifications:

  • Certified Orthotist
  • HND Orthotics
  • BSc Orthotics

And in addition, must have:

  • Full HCPC Registration
  • A valid UK Driving Licence
  • The ability to meet the requirements of an Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) Check
