Salary: £12.41 – £14.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Locations: Broadstone

Hours: Part-time – 12.5 hours per week

About the role

We’re looking for a caring, organised and passionate Nursery Cook to join our Broadstone team.

This is a hugely important role within the nursery. You’ll be responsible for preparing healthy, nutritious meals and snacks that support children’s wellbeing, development and enjoyment of food. From babies through to preschoolers – and occasionally Play Club children – your cooking will help fuel busy, happy days of learning and play.

You’ll take pride in running a safe, well‑organised kitchen, workings closely with the wider nursery team to ensure every child’s dietary needs bouw. Above all, you’ll share our commitment to creating a warm, inclusive environment where children feel cared for and valued.

Knowledge & Experience
  • At least 1 year’s post‑qualifying experience

What you’ll be doing

As Nursery Cook, your role will be varied and rewarding. You’ll:

  • Prepare fresh, wholesome meals and snacks for children under five, and occasionally for Play Club children (5‑11 years).
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining areasca, in line with food safety and health & safety guidance.
  • Order food from local suppliers, considering quality, seasonality and value for money.
  • Keep accurate records, including food safety checks, cleaning schedules and stock management.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is well maintained and used safely.
  • Communicate clearly with staff and children, working as part of the wider nursery team.
  • Occasionally support cookery activities with children alongside nursery staff.
  • Take part in training, supervision and performance reviews to support your ongoing development.
  • Always treat children, families and colleagues with kindness, respect and professionalism.
