Job summary

A leading global consultancy and engineering firm is seeking a Design Manager for data centre projects in Birmingham. The role involves overseeing the complete design process, coordinating among various stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with client procedures. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Architecture or Engineering, at least 8 years of experience in design management, and strong skills in stakeholder management. This position requires some travel to Norway and Finland.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years’ experience in design management for large-scale data centre or mission-critical infrastructure projects.
• Proven track record in managing design teams, BIM coordination, and technical submittals.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the complete design process of data centre projects.
• Ensure all design packages are developed in line with client procedures.
• Coordinate between multiple stakeholders and manage technical deliverables.
• Participate in Risk Review meetings and ensure closure of design issues.

Skills

Strong understanding of data centre design standards and processes

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Proficient in BIM software and project management systems

Ability to review complex technical documentation and ensure compliance

Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities

Education

Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field

Professional accreditation (e.g., CEng, PE, PMP)
