Job description

Job Type: Full-Time, Temporary, 36 hours per week

Working Hours: 12 hour shifts, on a rota basis

Pay Rate: £13.40 per hour + 20%

HRGO are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Operator to monitor the CCTV systems in and around Ashford, helping to keep the community safe and secure. Working in the 24-hour monitoring centre, candidates should have prior experience in a similar setting, with an SIA license in public CCTV surveillance.

This role involves:

  • Collecting intelligence information and evidence to support internal departments and external partners, including the police.
  • Reassuring and safeguarding the public by monitoring CCTV systems across Ashford, paying close attention to detail, and always employing safeguarding best practice.
  • Taking on additional duties, outside of your job description, where required to provide assistance in the wider organisation.
  • Following procedures in your day-to-day work, undertaking any additional training as necessary.
  • General administration and record keeping.
  • Taking enquiries, using initiative to ensure these are dealt with in a suitable and timely manner, as well as carrying out reviews and download requests.
  • Occasionally there will be a requirement to act as a witness in court.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to employ initiative and ownership in their work.
  • Prior experience in a similar setting working with CCTV, with knowledge of safeguarding and health and safety practices.
  • Capabilities to remain calm under pressure, and in potentially distressing situations.
  • An SIA License in public CCTV surveillance is a strong advantage.
  • Flexibility due to the requirement to work on a rota basis, including unsociable hours, weekends and bank holidays.

Please note: Regular police checks will be required for this position, due to the nature of the role. This post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
