Qualifications

Job description
Mobile Air Conditioning Improver Engineer

EQUANS are looking for a mobile air conditioning improver engineer working on behalf of our Mobile North‑West Sites in Blackburn. This is a permanent full‑time, 40‑hour per week role with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Overview

We are seeking a motivated and recently qualified Mobile Air Conditioning Engineer (Improver) to join our expanding building services team. This role is ideal for an engineer who has recently completed their City & Guilds Level 3 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and F‑Gas Category 1 qualification, and who is looking to gain practical, on‑the‑job experience under the guidance of experienced professionals.

You will support the delivery of planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs, and installation of a wide range of air conditioning and refrigeration systems across commercial and light industrial sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist senior engineers with the installation, servicing, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems, including split, multi‑split and VRV/VRF units.
  • Carry out routine preventative maintenance and performance checks.
  • Support fault finding, leak testing, pressure testing, evacuation and refrigerant charging.
  • Accurately complete service sheets, job reports and asset documentation using digital tools or paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental policies.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, site personnel and office staff.
  • Attend additional training and manufacturer courses as required to develop technical knowledge.
Qualifications & Experience
  • City & Guilds Level 3 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (7189 or equivalent).
  • F‑Gas Category 1 (City & Guilds 2079 or equivalent).
  • Good understanding of refrigeration and air conditioning principles and system components.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Some experience assisting with air conditioning installation or maintenance.
  • Basic electrical knowledge or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
