Role: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter

Hours: Continental 12 hour shifts – 4 on 4 off (4 days followed by 4 nights)

Salary: £46,000 to £48,000 per annum – overtime paid at x1.5 & x2.0 + benefits

Location: Easily commutable from Bromsgrove, Worcester, Kidderminster, Halesowen, Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Redditch and surrounding areas

Responsibilities

This is a permanent position working 12 hour shifts 4 on 4 off (4 days followed by 4 nights). Day shifts are reactive to breakdowns and line issues; night shifts are proactive – PPM, continuous improvement and project work.

Your role will include
  • Planned preventative maintenance across a range of equipment and machinery.
  • Handling machinery breakdowns – fault finding, diagnostics and repair.
  • Assisting with planned shutdowns and project work, refurbishing machines, replacing worn parts.
  • Working safely on the plant to check, repair or replace belts, bearings, motors, gears, pumps, chains, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc. Ideal candidates have mechanical skills within production/manufacturing environments.
Skills & Experience
  • Completed a recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or hold Mechanical Engineering qualifications (NVQ or C&G) at Level 3 or higher.
  • Experience with mechanical maintenance, fitting or servicing work, ideally within industrial and/or production/manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with belts, chains, bearings – fitting & aligning, pumps, seals, motors, gears, hydraulics, pneumatics, MIG/Arc welding and fabrication. Training available.
  • Good troubleshooting skills and diagnostic experience.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and drive chain fault finding; electrical control systems experience beneficial.
  • Creative problem solving.
  • Team player – delivering PPM, continuous improvement, investigating long‑term solutions.
  • Contribute to CMMS improvement.
  • Commitment to safety – strong experience of health and safety best practice.
