Job summary

A growing engineering company is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Turner to join their workshop team. The role includes mechanical builds, servicing, and repairs of heavy industrial machinery, with responsibilities that extend to UK and occasional international travel for installations and maintenance. Ideal candidates will have a proven background in mechanical fitting and assembly, with hands-on experience in working with heavy machinery.

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Turner to join their growing engineering team. This role is primarily workshop-based and involves the mechanical build, refurbishment and servicing of heavy industrial machinery. The successful candidate will also be required to travel across the UK and occasionally internationally to support installations, breakdowns and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out mechanical builds, assemblies and refurbishments of heavy industrial machinery and components.
  • Performing repairs, fault‑finding and servicing on a range of new and legacy equipment.
  • Using turning, fitting and machining skills to manufacture or modify parts when required.
  • Attending customer sites across the UK and overseas to support installation, commissioning, breakdown repairs or servicing of equipment.

Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • Proven background as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Engineer, Service Engineer or Workshop Engineer.
  • Strong experience working with heavy industrial machinery, mechanical fitting and assembly.
  • Willingness to undertake UK‑wide and occasional international travel.
