A local government authority in Cardiff is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the Cardiff Harbour Authority. Cardiff Harbour Authority engineering maintenance team was created to maintain the Cardiff Barrage. A Mechanical Engineering post has become available as part of the Barrage Engineering Team.

About the job

Candidates must have gained a formal Mechanical apprenticeship and have a suitable Engineering Certification (HNC or similar). The role requires a high level of Mechanical Engineering knowledge particularly with regards to hydraulics.

What We Are Looking For From You

The post will provide a unique opportunity for those who have significant Mechanical Engineering experience. The selected candidate will be expected to be flexible, an excellent team worker and have good communication skills. They must be enthusiastic and able to demonstrate initiative. Fault finding and problem solving skills are essential. In addition, heavy industry experience is a requirement of the post.

The successful candidate must be prepared to work outside of normal hours and in all weather conditions. A statutory requirement under the post is to be able to arrive on site and carry out rectifications work within an hour of any major failure being identified.

In return Cardiff Harbour Authority will provide a training package to include the opportunity of further education and development.
