Job summary

A leading housing and care provider in Nottingham is seeking a Maintenance Operative to join their dedicated team. Responsibilities

  • Provide first response to all repairs and identify faults.
  • Carry out operational repairs and maintenance of the building.
  • Complete regular checks on specified equipment.
  • Conduct fire checks and adhere to health & safety policies.
  • Check and replace bulbs in lighting and report faults.
  • Carry out minor repairs in tenanted and leasehold flats.
  • Order repair and maintenance materials and tools.
  • Ensure current documentation is maintained and SOPs are updated.

This is a brilliant opportunity for people who would be interested in joining our Independent Living service in Solihull. If you are looking for a vocation, that offers support, guidance and a feeling of community, Abbeyfield would love for you to join us.

Working as a team our Maintenance Operatives ensure that the property is maintained, and kept in a good state of repair at all times, by quickly carrying out minor repairs, undertaking pre-emptive repair work, and performing checks on structure, infrastructure and equipment.

The Role of Maintenance Operative
  • Provide first response to all repairs to identify the fault and repair or refer to Asset Management/nominated contractor.
  • Carry out day to day operational repairs and maintenance of the building, its fixtures and fittings and its equipment. This will include painting and decoration to rented flats as they become void.
  • Complete checks of all specified equipment (plant and other) on a regular basis.
  • Routine testing within policy and procedure for fire checks and relevant health & safety policies.
  • Check all lighting, inside and outside the scheme to ensure lights are operational and a VFM service is provided. Replace bulbs and report any electrical faults to management.
  • Carry out minor repairs in tenanted flats and in leasehold flats where required, e.g. replace light bulbs, hang pictures/mirrors etc.
  • Place orders for repair and maintenance material, tools and related goods.
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork and documentation is kept current, that SOPs are updated as circumstance or legislation dictates.
