Job description
Maintenance Mechanic - 2nd Shift - Wakefield, RI

Salary: $24.00 to $28.00 per hour

Shift differential: $2.00 per hour

Job Summary: Assists with day‑to‑day upkeep, general maintenance, drywall repair, painting, and operation of the facility. 2nd Shift 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, Monday‑Friday.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide quality customer service by giving one‑on‑one attention to detail.
  • Perform repairs to building and grounds.
  • Conduct routine rounds of mechanical spaces and document equipment readings as required.
  • Replace HVAC air filters per schedule.
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure hazards are not created.
  • Notify managers of the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  • Coordinate building and system repairs with other departments.
  • Respond to emergency call‑in situations.
  • Report any deficiencies on specific jobs or equipment.
  • Assist other trades as required.
  • Assist with facility emergency events per policy.
  • Support and review the work of outside vendors.
  • Maintain mechanical spaces per Quality Assurance Program.
  • Maintain necessary stock and tools to perform work.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Drive vehicles required to perform work.
  • Document work per department procedures.
  • Must complete safety and technical training as assigned by department director or designee.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE and other protective gear and equipment as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education / Certification(s):
  • High School Diploma or GED or 1 year trade or vocational school.
  • Valid unencumbered driver’s license.
Experience:
  • Two years’ general maintenance, painting and drywall experience within commercial, industrial, or healthcare setting.
