Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dedicated Housekeeper to join the household team at a prestigious 12-bedroom country estate in Andover. The role requires a hardworking, proactive individual with excellent attention to detail and a positive “can-do” attitude. The ideal candidate will take pride in maintaining exceptionally high standards, work well both independently and as part of a small, friendly team, and be happy to “muck in” wherever needed. You will work closely with other household staff and be responsive to the needs and preferences of the principals. Both live-in and live-out arrangements will be considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain immaculate standards of cleanliness throughout the main house and guest accommodation
  • Conduct daily cleaning, polishing, and tidying of all rooms, including bedrooms, bathrooms, reception areas, and kitchen
  • Care for fine furnishings, antiques, artwork, and delicate fabrics using appropriate cleaning methods
  • Change bed linens and towels, ensuring rooms are beautifully presented at all times
  • Manage deep cleaning and seasonal cleaning schedules
Laundry & Wardrobe Care
  • Wash, iron, steam, and press clothing and household linens
  • Care for delicate fabrics and luxury garments
  • Assist with wardrobe organisation and occasional packing/unpacking for travel
Household Organisation
  • Monitor household supplies and ensure stock levels are maintained
  • Assist with inventories and liaise with suppliers and contractors when required
  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of the household
Hospitality & Guest Service
  • Assist with preparing rooms for guests and ensuring the home is ready for arrival
  • Help with table setting, serving meals, and clearing when required
  • Provide discreet and attentive service during events and shooting weekends
Teamwork & Flexibility
  • Work closely with other household staff, including the Estate Manager, Chef, and Grounds team
  • Be flexible to adjust working hours when the principals are in residence (particularly during shoot season)
  • Follow direction while also using initiative to anticipate needs and take proactive action
  • Be happy to assist in all areas of estate life when needed ("muck in" attitude)
Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience working in a private household, estate, or luxury hospitality environment is essential
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
  • Discreet, professional, and trustworthy
  • Friendly, adaptable, and team oriented
  • Able to take direction yet comfortable working independently
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Driving licence preferred (due to rural location)
  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK
Accommodation (if live-in)
  • A separate and well-appointed staff cottage or apartment may be provided on the estate, inclusive of utilities
