Learning and Development Consultant – Belfast

About The Role: We are seeking an experienced Learning and Development Professional to join our AAB People team. This is a hands‑on, delivery‑focused role for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, client‑focused environment and is passionate about creating learning that makes a real and immediate difference to how people perform at work.

The role focuses on designing and delivering high‑impact, practical learning experiences that help individuals and managers build confidence, capability and effectiveness in their day‑to‑day roles. Our work supports people to perform at their best, make better decisions, communicate with greater impact and lead others well — particularly in complex, fast‑moving environments.

You will work across a broad and varied client base including public sector organisations, SMEs and global enterprises, delivering learning that is relevant, grounded in real work challenges and focused on behaviour change rather than theory.

You will be part of a highly supportive, collaborative team, contributing to programme design, facilitation, client relationships and the continuous evolution of our learning offer.

This role will suit someone who loves being in the room, is energised by facilitating workshops, and is confident working with groups where participants may have significant experience. You are comfortable holding space for exploration and challenge, helping others think and grow without needing to position yourself as the expert with all the answers.

Key Responsibilities
Design, Insight & Content Development
  • Design engaging, experiential and evidence‑based learning solutions that build practical capability people can apply immediately
  • Focus on developing skills that improve everyday performance and effectiveness, particularly for individual contributors and people managers
  • Typical themes include: Personal effectiveness, management and leadership, communicating with impact, resilience under pressure, problem solving and critical thinking, decision making, performance management and having difficult conversations
  • Translate organisational and performance challenges into clear, relevant and practical learning experiences
  • Tailor content to different organisational contexts, sectors and levels, ensuring relevance and credibility
  • Continuously improve programmes using insight from delivery, participant feedback and impact data
  • A key part of the role is staying curious and current — bringing the latest thinking in learning, leadership and management into programmes that are practical, engaging and unmistakably aligned to our brand.
Delivery & Facilitation
  • Facilitate high‑impact learning experiences (in‑person and virtual) that are interactive, practical and engaging
  • Create learning environments that encourage reflection, challenge, experimentation and behaviour change
  • Support participants to build confidence and capability in how they lead themselves and others
  • Build strong rapport and credibility with participants at all levels, from early‑career professionals to senior managers
  • Use a range of facilitation approaches including discussion, questioning, practice, feedback and reflective learning
Client & Consultancy Work
  • Work collaboratively with clients to ensure learning is aligned to real work challenges and performance needs
  • Represent the consultancy with professionalism, credibility and warmth across a diverse client base
  • Support simple programme evaluation and impact measurement
  • Manage multiple programmes and deliveries simultaneously in a busy consultancy environment
Team Contribution
  • Actively contribute to a supportive, high‑trust team culture
  • Share learning, insight and facilitation practice with colleagues
  • Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement across the consultancy’s learning offer
Essential Criteria

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience delivering professional, management or leadership development
  • A strong passion for facilitating learning and workshops, not just designing content
  • Confidence and credibility facilitating groups with varied levels of experience and seniority
  • A facilitation style that encourages thinking, reflection and ownership rather than instruction
  • A strong focus on practical application, performance improvement and behaviour change
  • Excellent facilitation, communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Ability to work at pace, manage competing priorities and remain flexible
  • High professional standards, strong presence and credibility in the room
  • Strong PowerPoint skills and confidence working with learning materials
  • Willingness to travel for client delivery as required
Desirable Criteria
  • CIPD qualification
  • Teaching, training or professional development accreditation
  • Experience working with awarding bodies such as ILM or CMI
  • Experience or accreditation in psychometric tools (e.g. DiSC, Insights Discovery, Myers‑Briggs)
  • Familiarity with accelerated, learner‑centred or performance‑focused learning approaches
Personal Attributes

We Are Particularly Interested In Individuals Who:

  • Genuinely enjoy inspiring and enabling others to grow
  • Thrive on facilitating learning rather than presenting content
  • Are comfortable working with experienced professionals and senior managers
  • Can hold space for uncertainty, challenge and exploration
  • Believe that great learning is about unlocking insight and capability, not providing all the answers
  • Care deeply about helping people perform well, lead effectively and reach their potential
  • Curious and committed to continuous learning and professional development
  • Takes pride in producing learning experiences that are high quality, engaging and on‑brand
  • Thoughtful, credible and confident — able to facilitate experienced groups with professionalism and humility

At AAB you will have tremendous opportunities that will meet your career aspirations, working in a progressive, energetic and stimulating environment alongside supportive and engaging professional teammates.

AAB Group is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
