Lead Data Architect | Fabric | Azure | Kimball | 2 days per week in Edinburgh | £100,000-£110,000

One of our long‑standing clients in the private investment space is building out their data capability and is hiring a Principal Data Architect on a permanent basis. The benefits package is strong, offering 40 days holiday, a 20 percent pension contribution, private healthcare, a share scheme and additional perks.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands‑on with technology while also seeking influence and ownership. You will design a data architecture that supports reporting, analytics, and operational systems, collaborating with engineering teams and senior stakeholders to define data modelling, integration, storage, and governance across the business.

There is substantial latitude to shape the direction of the data strategy, with new ideas and tools encouraged. The long‑term plan envisions progression to a Head of role, working alongside the Head of Engineering to lead the team.

Experience & Qualifications

• A solid background in Data Architecture
• Hands‑on experience across data and software design
• Experience with cloud data platforms, with Microsoft Fabric as the preferred option
• Experience with modern data warehousing
• Strong data modelling skills across relational and NoSQL systems
• Experience with governance, metadata, master data, and integration including ETL/ELT and API‑based approaches
