Job description
Overview

To assist in the preparation of lunch for our clients who attend our day services.

Responsibilities
  • To carry out tasks as instructed by the tutor, including helping prepare lunch by table setting, dishwasher emptying, cooking food under the tutor’s supervision, helping washing up and cleaning the kitchen.
  • To take part in food hygiene and health & safety training and apply as necessary.
  • To be welcoming and accepting of our clients and encourage a supportive and jolly atmosphere.
  • Time commitment: Any of Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays approximately 10.30am-1.30pm.
  • Where: Heads Up, Upper Breach, South Horrington, Wells, Somerset, BA5 3QG
Qualifications
  • This role has a minimum age of 18
  • Interest in the work of Heads Up, and a wish to help support people with mental health struggles
  • Experience and interest in basic cooking - nothing fancy needed!
  • Ability to follow instruction and be open to training
  • A good sense of humour and a friendly personality

Heads Up provides day services to individuals experiencing mental health issues, including Dementia. In recent years we have developed an Outreach service with a team who are community based. Through creative activity workshops we provide support to enable individuals to establish links to their local community and through learning, gain new skills, develop self-knowledge and tools for personal wellbeing, to access opportunities, to spend time with others and build social networks and to build an awareness of a broad range of social, educational, employment and life choices.
