At this block of flats in Queens Park, Bournemouth, we recently carried out a full upgrade of the communal door entry system to improve security and usability for residents.

The existing system had become outdated and unreliable, with worn components, unclear audio and a failing entry process. Our team was asked to design and install a robust replacement that would serve the 12 flats in the building while also providing simple access for trade personnel.

What We Installed

We supplied and fitted a brand new Fermax 12-button audio intercom panel with trade access at the main entrance. This system gives each flat clear audio communication and secure entry control. The trade button was configured with an internal timer to enable limited access during daytime hours, helping delivery drivers and maintenance teams enter without compromising building security.

In addition to the outdoor panel, we replaced the individual handsets inside each flat with new Fermax wall-mounted audio units . These modern units offer clear sound, simple push-button control and a sleek, space-saving design.

The wiring and control gear were fully upgraded, including:

• New power supply unit (PSU)
• Timed trade access controller
• Dedicated fused spur with labelling for ease of future maintenance
• Fully tested cabling and labelling throughout the system
