Job overview

This post will work within the Information Services Team. The post-holder is responsible for the extraction, processing, validation and analysis of information to support the processes of submitting statutory returns, meeting commissioner requirements and providing high quality information to support all corporate information functions.

The post holder will be responsible for working collaboratively with other colleagues to ensure that information is produced to a high standard, and by timescales, which support the business needs of the Trust and external agencies such as the Department of Health and Commissioning Groups.

The post-holder may also be expected to work with the following – the Executive Management Team, Clinical Directors, Divisional Teams, and clinical teams.

The post-holder will also be expected to work and liaise with the Department of Health, Commissioning Units and The Health & Social Care Information Centre.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will provide detailed, complex analytical support. They will ensure that all Statutory and Corporate Returns/reports are delivered within the required timescales and that information produced is of the highest standard. In addition, the post-holder will be expected to contribute to the development of a performance-focused culture where safety, effectiveness and patient experience are consistently delivered through the provision of high-quality performance information, analytical interpretation, benchmarking, forecasting and intelligent modelling.

The post-holder is responsible for the line management of an Senior Information Analysts and Information Analysts. However, the post holder will also lead all elements of work that fall under the remit of ‘Corporate Information’. This work may be provided by a range of individuals who sit within the wider Performance and Information Team.

Qualifications
  • Degree in numerate/technical discipline or equivalent significant and relevant NHS experience
  • Evidence of continuous professional development regarding data handling, processing and storage
  • Master’s degree in numerate discipline or equivalent relevant NHS experience
Experience / Knowledge
  • Significant experience of working in an NHS information role
  • Developing highly complex numerical and statistical analysis
  • Development of reports to support the submission of statutory guidance
  • Commissioning processes and a detailed understanding of NHS policy and guidelines
  • Evidence of using various information analysis techniques such as Excel, SQL, Access, Pivot Tables and any associated tools
  • Experience of documenting complex procedures
  • Ability to develop highly complex information
  • Highly developed Excel and analytical skills
  • SQL (e.g. data bases, analysis services, reporting services, SSIS)
