Hydraulic Modellers (Flood Risk Management)

Remit and responsibilities include:

  • Hydraulic modelling using industry‑standard software (Flood Modeller, Tuflow, InfoWorks, HEC‑RAS) for model development, calibration, interpretation, and interrogation of 1D and 1D/2D models.
  • Analyzing, managing, and interpreting data using GIS software (ArcGIS, MapInfo, QGIS) and analytical tools (R and Python).
  • Contributing innovative ideas, challenging the norm, and helping deliver better solutions for our clients.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver client outcomes.
  • Writing, developing, and reviewing complex technical reports.
  • Mentoring colleagues and peers, supporting personal, skills and career development, ensuring continuous growth of the team’s capability footprint.
  • Peer‑reviewing and checking of calculations and technical deliverables.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Degree/Meng/MSc in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, Mathematics or a related discipline.
  • Desire to achieve or already hold chartered status with an appropriate Professional Body (preferably ICE or CIWEM).
  • Experience implementing 1D and 2D modelling techniques for river, urban and coastal flooding applications.
  • Sound knowledge and experience of industry‑standard software such as Flood Modeller and Tuflow (InfoWorks ICM for river, drainage and 2D modelling) for model development, calibration, interpretation and interrogation.
  • Experience providing technical assurance of modelling outputs.
  • Demonstrable experience of hydrological calculations.
  • Ability to mentor colleagues and peers, supporting personal, skills and career development.
