Job summary

A renowned hospitality provider in Manchester seeks a Hospitality Team Member. This role involves providing exceptional customer service, assisting with various tasks from check-ins to food preparation. Hospitality Team Member

Permanent, flexible contract
Minimum 20 hours per week
£12.21 per hour, rising to £12.71 per hour from 1st March 2026 in line with National Living Wage (applies to all, including those under the age of 21)

Here at YHA Manchester we are looking for a Hospitality Team Member to join our happy, fun team! YHA Manchester is located in the historic Castlefield area of Manchester next to the canal and accommodates people from all over the world, from backpackers stopping by on their travels seeing the world, to school groups, to a lively weekend crowd staying to enjoy various events and of course football!

Our Hospitality Team members do a bit of everything. One day you could be working in our bar serving drinks, another day serving breakfasts, another day checking people in at reception, perhaps jumping in to help our hard working housekeepers, and other days doing it all on the same day!

It’s a 20 hour a week role with opportunities for more during busy periods. If you are at uni or have other commitments we’ll try our best to help you work round them, as our shifts range between 6:30am and 10:30pm. All we ask is that you are as flexible as possible, hard working and willing to get stuck in. The more flexible you are, the better. We will teach you everything you need to know and welcome you into our international friendly team. Please be aware this role requires you to work weekends.

What will you be doing as a Hospitality Team Member?

We are a friendly team and will provide the training required for you to undertake the role. However, there is plenty for you to get stuck into from day one, including:

  • Providing great customer service to all our customers, members and guests.
  • Working on reception, offering insights about the hostel and the local area. Ensuring every guest feels informed and welcomed.
  • Using our systems for efficient guest check-ins and check-outs, food and beverage sales and service.
  • Carrying out housekeeping duties, ensuring a comfortable, clean environment for all visitors.
  • Assisting in the preparation of food and serving food and drinks with genuine warmth, hospitality, and pride that will influence in more sales.
What Skills and Experience do you need to be a Hospitality Team Member?

Our Hospitality Team Members undertake a wide range of customer facing duties within the hostel, delivering an excellent service to all guests and visitors.

To provide this service to our guests we are looking for the following qualities in our Hospitality Team Members:

  • Experience working face to face with customers
  • Experience working in a team – can help others to achieve a common goal
  • Excellent timekeeping, with flexibility to cover different shifts – punctual, can work to deadlines
  • Ability to manage varying pressures, include peaks in workload demands – can prioritise, able to deal with conflicting duties
  • Knowledge and understanding of the core purpose of YHA – what YHA does and how we do it
  • Demonstration of our HEART values – they’re part of everything we do, and we look for people who bring them to life in their everyday work
