Job Description
- Provide a high quality, professional reception and administrative service to patients, doctors, staff, colleagues, health service professionals, and others.
- Act as the first point of contact for patients contacting the Practice and portray the Practice in the highest possible professional basis.
- Ensure enquiries from patients are handled efficiently and courteously to the satisfaction of partners and patients.
- Maintain the smooth running of the reception and admin function to provide a first‑class service to patients and visitors.
- Contribute to the maintenance of patient confidentiality at all times.
Essential Qualifications
- Good standard of education.
- GCSE, O Level or equivalent in English & Maths Level C or above.
- Willing to undertake further training and development.
Desirable Qualifications
- Practice receptionist (e.g. PRP, NCFE) or Customer Care (e.g. NVQ) qualification.
- European Computer Driving License (ECDL), ELITE or equivalent IT qualification.
Essential Experience
- Previous experience of working in a customer-focused role.
- Experience of dealing with people from a wide range of backgrounds and different cultures.
- Previous clerical/administrative experience in Primary Care.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience of working in a GP Practice.
- Experience of GP Practice clinical software, particularly TPP System 1.
Special Knowledge & Skills – Essential
- Able to maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of work.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills on the telephone and face to face.
- Ability to communicate with a range of people in a manner appropriate to their needs and situation.
- Good keyboard skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
Special Knowledge & Skills – Desirable
- Understanding of Data Protection and Information Governance principles.
- Committed to the Social Enterprise model of business and patient care.
