At Gen Phoenix, we’re transforming waste into premium sustainable materials that power the future of fashion, automotive, and luxury industries.

Our success depends on a culture where innovation, safety, and wellbeing go hand in hand and we’re looking for a passionate Health and Safety Manager to help us lead that mission.

As our Health & Safety Manager, you will lead the strategic direction of health, safety, and environmental performance across our sites ensuring every process, product, and person operates safely, sustainably, and in full compliance. You will be the driving force behind a proactive safety culture, shaping policies, systems, and behaviours that support our ambition to scale circular manufacturing responsibly and safely.

You’ll partner closely with operational and leadership teams, guiding them to make informed, risk‑aware decisions while embedding best practice across the organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced H&S leader ready to influence at a bigger scale, or a high‑performing H&S professional stepping into management within a purpose‑driven, innovative business.

What You’ll Do

Risk & Compliance Leadership

  • Lead and oversee site‑wide risk assessments, inspections, audits, and corrective action processes.
  • Own and continuously improve HSE management systems aligned to ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001.
  • Ensure full compliance with UK legislation, acting as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to leadership on emerging risks and legal requirements.
  • Oversee investigations into incidents, accidents, and near‑misses, ensuring robust root‑cause analysis.
  • Implement preventative and corrective actions to strengthen safety performance and eliminate repeat issues.
  • Champion a learning culture that values transparency, accountability, and continual improvement.

Training, Coaching & Culture Building

  • Develop and deliver impactful HSE training programmes for employees, contractors, and new starters.
  • Influence leaders and line managers to role‑model safe behaviours and embed a “safety‑first” mindset.
  • Lead site‑wide campaigns, toolbox talks, and engagement initiatives that reinforce behavioural safety.
  • Lead environmental initiatives including waste management, pollution control, and sustainability projects.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to support Gen Phoenix’s commitment to reducing environmental footprint and achieving circularity goals.
  • Maintain accurate HSE records and dashboards, analysing trends to inform decision‑making.
  • Present performance updates and insights to senior leadership, using data to drive cultural and operational improvements.
  • Identify and lead improvement projects that enhance systems, reduce risk, and elevate compliance maturity.

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or related discipline.
  • NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma (with development support available if progressing toward Diploma).
  • Ideally, professional membership such as IOSH or working towards it.
  • Demonstrable experience in a manufacturing or production environment, ideally within fast‑paced or scaling operations.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and challenge at all levels.
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused approach with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
