Responsibilities
Tonic’s Central Delivery team performs a vital function ensuring effective governance of all client engagements. Ultimately responsible for all stages of the delivery lifecycle, from mobilisation through to project close, the team grows in-line with Tonic’s increasing book of work.
- Successful Delivery execution and client outcomes
- Accountability for the successful execution of all client engagements, from mobilization through to completion of client deliverables
- Adopt a proactive, highly organized and structured approach to Tonic delivery to meet client and commercial goals and identify risks and issues early for mitigation
- Engagement Mobilization: contribute to sales proposal definition; ensure proposals are fit-for-purpose to meet delivery and commercial goals
- Tonic team definition: delivery model definition; select the best team for delivery success (review of candidates, experience and skillsets)
- Recruitment of external candidates (job specs, CVs, interviews, assessments); manage commercial terms and contracts for candidates
- Ongoing partnership with Head of Operations for legal and commercial considerations
- Lead for Client Engagement mobilization: coordinate with Client Sponsors & Procurement; review and feedback on Statements of Work; pre-engagement planning and mobilization
- Creation of high-quality client materials for Engagement Kick-Off; lead Kick-Off workshops and early client meetings
Delivery Management
- Lead delivery communications framework (client meets, Tonic meets, team 121s)
- Central engagement tracking and reporting across all engagements (plan status, deliverables, RAID, budget and profit)
- Consolidated status reporting across all engagements for SMT
- Manage central quality assurance process for artefacts and deliverables to meet high-quality standards (governance artefacts, design artefacts, senior management artefacts)
- Client relationship management: build long-term relationships, own client-facing delivery communications and escalations; regular client meetings; timely solution remediation for risks and issues
Pro-Active Delivery Advisory
- Provide proactive guidance across delivery teams to achieve client goals
- Prepare for key client meetings (SteerCos and Working Groups); define delivery approach per project phase
- Stakeholder management; proactive risk identification and mitigation; identify required domain and transformation expertise
- Continual improvement of Delivery operating model
The Global Head of Delivery will be accountable for building a best-in-breed delivery operating model to ensure scalability and standardization across a high-growth, high-complexity engagement book. They will establish a culture of continual improvement and monitor delivery performance against goals.
- Creation of goals and metrics for the Delivery team; ongoing success tracking
- Lead formal lessons learned across delivery engagements
- Ongoing assessment of delivery operating model (process/tech/data/people/governance)
- Successful execution and governance of Central Delivery Improvements program; status reporting
- Build a motivated and productive Delivery team
The Global Head of Delivery will provide leadership across the entire Delivery team, building a motivated and energetic team aligned with our principles: expertise, client first, continual improvement and integrity.
- Manage Global Delivery team; drive innovation and forward-thinking
- Delivery team communications via 121s, team/client meetings, and other forums
- Inductions, training and learning opportunities; maintain low staff attrition
- Team performance management: objectives, performance reviews and appraisals; consultant remuneration and contract negotiation
- Incremental growth of client delivery scope
The Global Head of Delivery will contribute to commercial growth by identifying and collaborating with the Client Management team to shape relevant sales opportunities, focusing on high-value delivery outcomes.
- Identify sales opportunities driven by client needs
- Contribute to sales proposals and bids for new work
- Define new Tonic services aligned with client needs and assess impacts on the delivery model (including ROI analysis)
Additional Tasks
Tonic’s Global Head of Delivery will be a key SMT member contributing to company strategy and direction. Additional duties as they arise may be agreed on an ad-hoc basis.
Required Skills & Experience
General
- 15+ years of experience within the Financial Services industry across a variety of firms
- Direct experience in one or more financial markets consultancies
- Experience in a smaller, growing organisation
Transformation
- Previously held a Head of Delivery position or equivalent at financial consultancies
- Proven Business Transformation specialist with 15+ years across various roles (Business Analyst, Project Manager, Program Manager, Architect, etc.)
- 5+ years as Project Manager; 5+ years as Programme Manager managing multiple projects in parallel
- Leadership of high-complexity programmes within tight timeframes, including advisory and business transformation projects
- Delivery operating model improvements within a consultancy; best-practice delivery frameworks (Waterfall, Agile)
- Creation of high-quality project documentation and templates
- Hands-on management of complex transformation programs (regulatory compliance, greenfield builds, target operating model design, digital transformation)
Personal
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; proactive, forward-looking with upfront planning
- Strong verbal and written communication with all stakeholder levels
- Highly organized, accountable leader for a large, growing team
- Experience building motivated teams with clear frameworks and autonomy; establish and improve appraisal frameworks
- Attention to detail; strong Microsoft Office skills; PowerPoint proficiency for client communications
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience as a Business Analyst; client relationship and sales experience in a consultancy
- Experience in domains such as Collateral, Post-Trade, Securities Finance, Digital (tokenization/DLT/AI) & Risk
- Experience in a COO role or similar
Qualifications
- A first-level university degree, 2:1 (or equivalent)
- One or more Professional Project Management Qualifications (Prince2, PMP, etc.)
