Job summary

A local government organization in Dundee is seeking a Gypsy Traveller Liaison Officer on a temporary basis. This hybrid role includes liaising with Gypsy/Travellers and relevant agencies, ensuring services meet users' needs, and managing the community site. # Gypsy Traveller Liaison OfficerRef no:: DEE06293Published:: 05/12/2025Closes:: 04/01/2026Location:: East District Office Pitkerro, Dundee, DD4 8ESSalary:: £30,738 - £33,367 per yearContract Type:: TemporaryPosition Type:: Full TimeHours:: 37 hours per weekWork From Home:: Hybrid## Job DescriptionWorking in a hybrid style, based at home and East District Office, you will work full time, 37 hours per week on a temporary basis until March 2027.If you have any queries regarding this vacancy, please contact Fiona Reekie on 01382 437318 or email fiona.reekie@dundeecity.gov.uk## RequirementsYou will have an SVQ Level 3 or HNC in Housing or equivalent, in relevant subject and/or equivalent work experience in a similar role.## ResponsibilitiesYou will liaise with Gypsy/Travellers, other relevant agencies and organisations to ensure all services are tailored to the needs of the service users, and that these services all deliver agreed outcomes.You will be responsible for the day to day management of the Gypsy/Travelling Peoples Site, and the wider traveller community in the city.You will provide guidance and direction within the area of responsibility, within the Council and also between agencies/organisations.## The IndividualbYou will have good knowledge of housing legislation, practice and key issues, as well as a good knowledge of Gypsy Travellers way of life. You will have experience of supporting tenancy sustainment by effective management of tenancy issues and dealing with the public in both confrontational and sensitive situations.You will have experience of delivering a customer focused service, communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders (other Council departments, outside agencies, etc) and experience of Housing/ Estates/Property Management Systems.You will have the ability to demonstrate a proactive approach to problem solving and decision making to achieve satisfactory outcomes, prioritise workload and manage time effectively to meet conflicting demands, deadlines and targets and the ability to work under pressure, respond to emergencies and adapt to changes in legislation.
