Role and Development

You will work within a multi-disciplinary office supported by other ground engineering professionals. There will be opportunities to develop a strong base in ground engineering, problem solve and develop designs, or specialise in areas such as numerical modelling, seismic, risk and resilience, or sustainability. You will focus on geotechnical aspects at all stages of the project lifecycle: desk studies, ground investigation, analysis & design, carbon management, construction supervision & monitoring, and asset management.

Collaboration

You will have the opportunity to collaborate in multi-disciplinary project teams, working with experts in other Arup disciplines. You may be asked to work in other offices or regions. Our structure supports workload sharing, international assignments, and building your network.

Locations

Graduate Geotechnical Engineering roles are available in Birmingham, Nottingham, London, Leeds, Sheffield, Cardiff, Southampton, Bristol, Belfast and Newcastle.

Requirements

• A minimum of a Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or similar subject, 2:1 or above (predicted or attained).
• A Master\'s degree in Civil Engineering or related Geotechnics/Soil Mechanics/Seismic Engineering is desirable.
• Enthusiasm for a career in ground engineering with knowledge of the sector.
• Excellent knowledge of soil mechanics and soil-structure interaction with understanding of sustainable development principles.
• Effective communication, teamwork, and analytical mindset.
• Ability to work on own initiative and be proactive.
• Understanding of applying Eurocodes in geotechnical and structural design.
• Aptitude for learning new technical software, including 3D design and digital automation.
• Experience with coding languages, finite element software, or digital design is beneficial.
• Interest in developing a specialty through postgraduate or PhD studies.
