Job summary

A leading defense organization is looking for a Future Products Principal Systems Engineer in Bristol. This role involves supporting the engineering of future systems with a salary of approximately £55,000. Applicants should have experience with systems engineering and a background in weapons systems. The position offers hybrid working with 3-4 days on-site a week. You will develop new skills in early-phase design and support various products across new business areas.

Overview

Future Products Principal Systems Engineer at MBDA. The role is within the newly formed Future Products department; part of Missile Design UK: Emerging Portfolio & Capability function, supporting MBDA's Vision 2040.

Responsibilities
  • Early phase design cycle skills combining core System Engineering, Business development, Customer & User engagements, technology applicability and new functionality areas.
  • Road-mapping / Requirements elicitation, bidding for new work, understanding capability, corralling multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Develop and nurture new skills for Early Phase activities, including using System Design tools such as DOORS for requirements and Rhapsody for model-based design.
  • Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Design Maturity Assessments.
  • Support multiple products across future systems and new business areas.
What we’re looking for
  • Knowledge of DOORS, Rhapsody and systems design analysis tools (e.g., Pugh Matrix / QFD).
  • Strong Systems Engineering knowledge with the ability to test new techniques and conduct system trade studies.
  • Experience of weapons systems and missile design, including systems trade studies (beneficial).
  • Solid understanding of weapon systems, platforms and missile sub-systems.
  • Ability to embrace the uncertain nature of early concept development and progress towards defined solutions and system concepts.
  • Ability to negotiate and influence a broad range of internal and external partners to secure the right outcome.
  • Experience of planning and task management.
