About the Role

This role offers a unique career path for Registered General Nurses and Paramedics with at least three years of post‑qualification experience, wanting to work in a forensic setting. You will deliver high‑quality, trauma‑informed care to detainees in police custody and support police investigations by collecting forensic samples.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high‑quality care to detainees in police custody.
  • Manage a range of health needs, including drug and alcohol dependency and acute medical episodes.
  • Collect and preserve forensic evidence following legal and professional standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments to determine fitness for detention or interview.
  • Manage medical emergencies, treat injuries and give health advice.
  • Liaise with police, NHS services, mental‑health teams and other agencies.
  • Maintain accurate clinical and evidential records.
  • Attend court to give impartial professional evidence when required.
  • Undertake accredited forensic training and continuous professional development.

Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) or Paramedic with current NMC or HCPC registration.
  • Minimum three years of post‑qualification experience.

  • Right to work in the UK and have lived in the UK for at least three years before applying.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance.
