Job description

Calderdale Council is seeking a committed Fire Risk Assessor to join our dedicated Health and Safety team. The role offers a varied and rewarding experience within a supportive and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the competent person under Article 18 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 for all council services, providing fire safety advice to all departments, including schools.
  • Maintain and promote a positive, legally compliant fire safety culture across the borough.
  • Record, track and mitigate fire safety risks in line with current legislation.
  • Deliver the council’s overarching Health and Safety policy and supplementary fire safety policy, supporting the authority’s risk management objectives.
  • Ensure fire safety matters are managed to protect employees, assets, and the council’s legal, financial and reputational interests.
Qualifications
  • Level 4 fire safety certificate (minimum) and registration with a recognised professional fire safety body.
  • Broad technical knowledge and experience in all aspects of fire safety risk management.
  • Ability to demonstrate competence in fire safety compliance and risk mitigation.
Compensation

Starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience. Base pay range will be discussed with successful applicants.
