Job Title: Facilities Project Manager

Function: Sodexo Justice Services
Location: HMP Northumberland

About the Role

Sodexo Justice Services is seeking an experienced Facilities Project Manager to support the delivery of high-quality Facilities Management services at HMP Northumberland. This role plays a key part in ensuring the prison remains safe, secure, compliant, and fit for purpose through the effective delivery of lifecycle, capital, and FM-led projects.

Reporting to the Head of Facilities Management, the post holder will manage site-wide projects, oversee subcontractors and in-house teams, and support the delivery of asset lifecycle and capital expenditure programmes valued at approximately £1.2m per annum. The role will also deputise for the Head of FM on project-related matters when required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support delivery of statutory compliance, lifecycle, capital, and FM-led business projects to time, cost, and quality standards
  • Manage subcontractors, specialist contractors, and in-house teams across project activity
  • Ensure safe working practices are followed and take corrective action where required
  • Conduct quality inspections on contractor works and implement improvements
  • Maintain accurate records and provide timely, high-quality reports using Microsoft Office tools
  • Line manage maintenance staff, including 1-2-1s, performance reviews, and development planning
  • Build and maintain effective relationships across the supply chain and internal stakeholders
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards
  • Promote staff engagement, wellbeing, and a strong Health & Safety culture
Key Accountabilities
  • Successful delivery of project works in line with contractual and statutory requirements
  • Contribution to positive audit outcomes and compliance performance
  • Promotion of high standards of Health & Safety, quality, and staff engagement
Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Essential:

  • Experience managing people and services within a Total Facilities Management environment
  • Demonstrable leadership capability, ideally with PRINCE2 or APMP project management certification
  • BIFM Level 4 qualification or equivalent
  • Strong track record in project delivery, financial management, and customer relationships
  • IOSH Level II (or equivalent) Health & Safety qualification
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to manage complex projects within tight timescales
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable:

  • Experience in 24/7 operational environments (e.g. prisons, hospitals, universities)
  • Knowledge of HVAC, AHU, BMS, and CAFM systems (e.g. Maximo)
  • Experience with commercial electrical or mechanical systems
