Overview
Expense Analyst - 12 Month FTC at Beazley. This role supports the Beazley Shared Services (BSS) expense actuals & planning processes, with focus on month-end activities, ledger entries, reconciliations, variance analysis and analytics reporting.
Key Relationships: Finance (including Financial Performance team), Accounts Payable, BSS Business Function Heads, BSS Business Managers and other Business Users.
Job Summary
Beazley is seeking an Expense Analyst to support accurate and timely delivery of expense actuals and planning processes. This is an operational role aimed at optimising the business partnering relationship, driving insight and challenge around numbers, and ensuring current and future BSS requirements are reflected in actuals and plan with robust governance and controls.
Reporting to the Expense Business Partner, this role involves month-end activities, control documentation, and analytics to explain movements in the expense base and drive efficiencies.
Key Activities & Areas Of Responsibility
- Provide Direct Support To Decision Makers
- Support the delivery of the Expense Actuals process in accordance with pre-approved timetables, including month-end ledger entries for all owned processes, PO compliance, variance analysis with detailed commentary, and embedding controls and governance.
- Support the delivery of the Expense planning process, understanding BSS requirements, with robust commentary to support monthly actuals and future planning discussions.
- Build strong relationships with BSS business unit leaders to translate decisions/initiatives into expense plans.
- Develop reporting capabilities and dashboards to improve process efficiency and reporting effectiveness.
- Enable rapid interpretation and updates through a continuous stakeholder feedback loop.
- Communicate effectively to stakeholders using visuals and storytelling techniques.
- Ensure an appropriate control framework to guarantee accuracy of reporting.
- Own and develop the process documentation framework to ensure completeness and governance compliance.
- Facilitate The Creation Of Digital Decision Support Tools
- Utilise new technology to enhance the BSS offering and scale solutions for efficiency across the Expense Accounting Team.
- Collaborate with the Change Team to ensure decision support tools provide actionable advice for operational and strategic decisions.
- Represent the internal customer in meetings with Financial Performance, Technology & Change teams to design intuitive reports, analyses and dashboards.
- Assist in change management strategies to facilitate adoption of new tools and processes.
- Articulate the value of decision support tool utilisation to different audiences.
- Help define success criteria for Performance Management tools and establish measurable metrics to monitor utilization and quality.

Education And Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
- Experience in the financial services or insurance market (preferably Lloyd’s).
- Experience in Expense roles within complex insurance organisations and knowledge of accounting policies.
