Estates Semi-skilled Maintenance Assistant

The post holder will be responsible for undertaking pre-planned and unplanned maintenance works within the areas/buildings covered by North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with weekly fire alarm and monthly emergency light tests.
  • Undertake fire damper checks, ductwork, grilles and diffuser cleaning.
  • Commit to working as a member of the Estates team to provide a good quality, cost‑effective service.
  • Carry out a wide range of tasks and repairs within personal competence.
  • Replace light bulbs/tubes and store used lamps in accordance with Waste Regulations before disposal.
  • Determine and procure lists of materials/supplies required for day‑to‑day maintenance works.
  • Carry out checks and cleaning/replacement of air filters in small operating rooms, kitchens and bathrooms to ensure good air quality.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with current Health & Safety at Work Legislation.
  • Carry out regular visual checks of medical gas systems and compressors, and assist medical gas competent persons.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade that may be reasonably requested from time to time.
  • Work with trade staff (fitters, joiners, plumbers & electricians) to assist with maintenance and project work.
